| Septic Tank and Cesspool Cleaning
Our complete Ten Point Inspection is as follows
|
- Inspect for Leaks
- Inspect for Adequate tank access
- Inspect the Inlet Baffle
- Inspect the Outlet Baffle
- Inspect the operating level
- Inspect the Structural condition
Locate the absorption area
- Visible signs of Absorption issues
- Look for even effluent distribution
Record the amount of standing liquid
|
The PA Dept of Environmental Protection recommends septic tank
cleaning a minimum of once every two years.

In the Absorption Area:
Please note that this ten point inspection is a minimum of the areas inspected.
If there is a pump or further control components we will inspect those as well.
- The inspection of your system will include each component.
- All of the above plus Septic Tank Cleaning is done at a cost of $225.00 for the first 1500 gallons and 10 cents a gallon thereafter.
- Special Monthly Rates are available for Residential Holding Tank systems.
Hurricane Drain offers annual contracts for Commercial systems as well as Residential Community Pumping Contracts.
Periodic Maintenance of the Primary System (Septic Tank or Cesspool):
Pumping out the septic tank or cesspool is to be done at regular intervals.
The PA Dept of Environmental Protection recommends septic tank cleaning a minimum of once every two years.
Cleaning the primary treatment is a large factor in septic system longevity.
The build up of suspended solids in the primary treatment reduces the ability of the soil absorption in the secondary treatment or absorption area.
Hurricane Drain always pumps out from the large central manhole.
This is the proper way to ensure that all solids are removed. Hurricane Drain uses modern pressure back flushing after the tank or cesspool is cleaned out.
This stirs up any settled solids at the bottom of the septic tank prior to a final cleaning.
Once emptied we always inspect the interior baffling components.
The purpose of baffles is two-fold. The inlet baffle is located at the inlet pipe and is used to divert liquid flow directly down without churning up settled or floating solids.
The outlet baffle has the important function of preventing floating solids from exiting directly through the overflow or outlet pipe and entering the absorption area.
Trapping all solids in the tank preserves the soil absorption area from the damaging effects of organic solids and also allows for the further treatment of the solids to take place.
As the primary treatment is being cleaned we inspect for any "phantom leaks" i.e.: running toilets or leaky faucets.
Even a small leak into the septic system will cause eventual saturation.
Inspection of the absorption area is done using a "T" probe into the aggregate to check for standing liquid or signs of future absorption problems.
It is always good to know as soon as possible that there is a potential issue with the absorption component.
The written results are handed on site to the client along with our invoice.
